What is the 20% project?
Hello readers,
My name is Mateo Ybarra and I am a sophomore at Animas High School. This blog has been for my current project. The project Is called the 20% project. The 20% project is a month-long project that lets us do whatever we want. For this project, my partner Dylan and I want to start a coffee cart/stand. One of my main desires that I want to get out of this business is to give back to the community. This business is going to take a lot of work, a lot of time, and money. keep up to date with our business by reading my weekly blog post. If you would like to support us visit the link below.

first blog!!
The video is little rough around the edges, but other than that it really gives the info that you need. We are going to improve the quality and also remove the Lipton tea bottle. The image below is what we would like that cart to look like.
seconded blog...
I didn't really know where to start this week. So, the major thing that I learned is not to be afraid to ask for help from people that have had experience.
I have not found a mentor yet but, the main thing that I have accomplished is getting the list of what we will most likely need...like... The bike(of course) , espresso machine, grinder, knock box, Tamper, portafilter, beans,
Well...finding a mentor is really hard. I've already been turned down but I haven't given up hope yet. One thing that I wanted to do is higher either the homeless community or higher people with low income and give them more of a profit than they would if they were working as another barista.
The next thing that I am going to do is find a mentor to teach me about coffee and how to make a really good espresso. I also need to find a business mentor.
Third blog!
This week… I realized this isn't going to cost that much. I haven't really focused on finding a mentor. This week I went to City Hall and the licence that I'll need to get a food cart is going to cost me $130 and on top of that city planning told me that I will have to pay $50 for the licence I need there. And the whole bike cost around 10k. Some other bikes cost around 27k.
One of the main things that I wanted to do is ride the bike around downtown and sell it when someone just tell me to stop. But as I've learned I can no longer keep that dream alive. Unless I ride around in a residential area. I will still do the bike though because it is a cheaper way than buying a food cart and having to buy a trailer to pull it around and I will not need to do that if I had a bike to ride with the cart.

fourth Blog
This week...I realized that it's going to cost way too much if I want to do everything the right way. The whole thing will cost around 25k. But I am just going to start small and fundraisers at Animas High School.
Alright, so I found a mentor his name is Patrick booth and he does specialized coffee on highway 3 in Durango Colorado. That's all I was really focusing on this week. Nothing's really has gone wrong as of this week.
My next step of action is to learn how Patrick makes his coffee.

Fifth blog
Alrighty, so today in the gallery walk in Stephen sellers class I realized that there are a lot of people that want coffee in the morning it really gave me the push that I needed to keep going and try to make this a reality. I didn't really hear any negative feedback which was good.
This week I and Dylan are a really just trying to get the word out across Durango so we can finally get money to construct the bike and get the supplies that we will need.
Nothing has really gone wrong other than trying to get money in order to do this.
The next step of action is to get focused on getting an A+ on my Ted talk.
